Dave wanted to remove the wall between his narrow hallway and his small galley style kitchen before renovating his kitchen. Thinking it was a simple job, he stripped off the cladding and then went to work at removing the framing. Everything went well until he tried to remove the centre stud. Fortunately, Dave realised that the reason why the stud resisted his efforts to remove it was because it was supporting the entire weight of his ceiling. He called a licensed building contractor, who came over and reinforced the wall until he had a chance to come back and do the job right.
